I recently added this beauty to my S&W family. Model 19-2 blued 6". The left grip has been modified.
Any ideas on the ship date? SN is K6819xx.

It was shaped to clear a speedloader. A fair number of cops carried these longer M-19's and I had three. Very accurate and gives higher velocity than shorter .357's.

Gun writer Jeff Cooper felt that the six-inch M-19 was a fine trail gun, giving full .357 power with less weight than a M-27 or M-28. Of course, it'll also fire .38 ammo, to kill edible small game.

SCS&W says (quick and dirty) that "19-2 made '61-' 66" and that would be in between no relief 50s era target stocks and 70s era speedloader cuts.

Your gun may have come with football extractor relief cut stocks that, looks like nice work by the way, were customized for speedloader clearance.

Nice looking piece

I have other S&W revolvers with the football cutouts but I guess that wasn't enough for the previous owner. They did do a nice job expanding the cutout.
So this is now a C&R? Sweet.
