I've been offered a Smith model 19-7 snubby, pre-lock with a factory bobbed hammer. I couldn't find anything on this particular revolver in the SCSW. Has anyone heard or seen one of these? Any info would be greatly appreicated.

Tks,

How are you BigBoku? No it's a 2 1/2" blued snubby with a bobbed hammer, and non ported. I was advised by seller that the hammer was factory bobbed but I can't find anything listed in the book on it. Any thoughts?

It's my understanding that the factory DA-only hammers were shipped to police, corrections, and security companies. I picked up a couple of stainless ones from some 64's my gunsmith had switched out and he had some blue ones in the box with them. I haven't seen them listed in SCSW either.

I thought it may have been one of the 75 Performance Center Model 19-7's produced for Lew Horton that were DAO with 3" ported barrels.

Maybe what the seller meant is it was sent back to the factory to have the hammer bobbed as opposed to it coming new from the factory in that configuration.

That would be my guess as well. It could be easily documented by a factory letter. The ultimate nightmare is that some previous owner just whacked the thing off with a dremel tool.
