Hi Guys,

I picked up a Model 29-2 revolver yesterday. Been looking for one for a long time, well because "Dirty Harry" is one of my favorite movies.

Been searching for info on date of manufacture for S&W but cannot find it.

Could anyone let me know please? SN is N6329XX

Barrel is 6" not 6.5" as I had thought.

Nice acquisition! I can't tell from the photo- does it have a 6" or 6-1/2" bbl.? From everything I've read, Dirty Harry carried a 29-2 with 6-1/2" bbl. However, according to the SCSW fewer 6" bbl. versions were produced than 6-1/2" bbl. versions. Since I could never be sure, I had to have Model 29-2s with both barrel lengths! Enjoy!

In the late 1970’s S&W standardized barrel lengths, getting rid of the 6.5” for the 6”. Your barrel length is the to be expected length for that time period. If I remember correctly, there is only one (1) known 6” barreled S serial numbered guns. But lots of N serial guns from late 70’s to early 80’s.
