Can anyone tell me year of manufacture, for my Model 29-2, serial # S270762? Thanks.

S315946 Shipped July 1969, so I would say 1967-68.

I would about bet my next pay check it didnt ship in 66. So far we only know of 2 29's that shipped in 1966

I bought my 29-2 in early 1968, S282323. The price had increased from $105 to $125 in the couple of months from order to receipt!

Dirty Harry had not hit the theaters yet, and I have heard that the 29s were not moving too fast at that time. Only a letter will tell you for sure when it shipped and where.

PS: I still have mine and it still shoots good.

Model 29-2, S270705, shipped in October 1966, and S270629 shipped in June 1966 so yours may be close to these.

That's really interesting, are Doc44 the two known? Do you know why so few made in that time frame?

I have a nickel 29-2 S231156 that shipped April 8 1964, always wondered how many nickel ones there were from the early 60's.

There were many more than two Model 29s shipped in 1966. I don't have the exact number, but a quick check of the records suggests a number in the hundreds, if not more. Perhaps, only two have been reported by collectors? Revolvers finished in nickel usually make up about five to fifteen percent of those produced.
