Local pawn shop has a Smith & Wesson Model 29-3, .44 Magnum, blued, 6 1/2 inch barrel, excellent condition, after market Hogue grips. It is priced at $449 but I am sure they would take an offer of $400. Hmmmmm.

Your're going to have to look long and hard to find a 29-anything in "excellent condition" for $400.00. So if you want one I'd grab it. I'd even give him the $450.00 if I had too.

I returned this morning. After closer inspection it had, wide hammer, wide trigger and some minor wear at the muzzle end, some minor freckles and a very small scratch on the side plate. I could still get it for $400 OTD.

yes..

The grips are Hogue and the previous owners dog chewed on the back a little bit. It has an AVT prefix. The finish has some minor issues but I guess it was an OK deal at the price.

Most any used Smith in the $400 range these days is a rare find; congratulations.

That grip looks like a Pachmayr to me, but then I've not been too far around the block.

Enjoy your gun!

Nice pick up. One of my next purchases will be a 6" or 6.5" model 29. I just love the way they look. And yes the wood looks much better!

At $400, I would have hurt myself getting my wallet out. The 29-3 is the first of the non-P&R guns and the the last of the pre-Endurance Package guns. With reasonable loads, it should last forever.

at a local pawn shop today saw a blue 29 p&r in 8 3/8. not sure what dash it was but didn't matter, it looked like crap. price was 749. I consider my 29-3 a shooter, nice condition but I paid much more than 400 for it. even I can see you got a great deal.

I agree that just about any S&W for $400 is a good deal, assuming it is mechanically sound and not hideous cosmetically.

An N-Frame for that price is even a more better deal. :D
