MODEL 34-1 REVOLVER DATE OF MFG.

I just acquired this revolver from an individual who said it was issued to his father when he attended the Vermont State Police Academy. Of course it's a .22 with a 4" bbl and is in pristine condition.

A picture of the LH side of the bare grip shows a large letter "P", which he says stood for Police Issue. The serial number starts as M29XXX.

Appreciate any help as to the date of manufacture.

That should be a mid to late 1971 revolver

Made in 1971.

A Kit Gun issued to a rookie police officer? Odd. I wonder what the purpose would be. Certainly not as a duty weapon, I wouldn't think.
