Model 36-1 Age Please?

I just purchased a pre-owned Model 36-1 with 3" barrel. Serial number is: BAB28XX. Anyone know year of manufacture? Thanks in advance!

Most likely 1988. But the three-alpha numbers are a bit jumbled and so far as I know we don't have a definitive list.

I have one with # IJ 36** paper work is stamped 2-16-71

Yes. The 1Jxxxx numbers are from 1971.

Well, yes, but keep in mind that the 36-1 was replaced by the 36-3 in 1988. That's why I favored the earlier date. But without a letter, we will probably never know.
