Model 36 [stainless?]

From what I've read, there is no such thing as a stainless Model 36 (aka 636) Is it possible that this is such? It is not magnetic, which leads me to believe that it could be as. Any word?

You have a very nice plate model 36. It might be nickel which has a very slight yellowish cast or if it truly looks like stainless it is probably hard chrome which is a less yellow plating

What color is the ejector star? If it is blue then this is probably a factory nickel. If it matches the rest of the cylinder then this is an aftermarket plating job.

Those are signs of a Factory Nickel plated revolver

It means it left the factory with a nickel finish.

It should still be magnetic. All steel S&W's are, stainless or carbon steel.
