I thought I would share this new collection addition:
A mint ANIB Mod 36 from 1969 that belonged to a prominent Miami Beach criminal attorney from the 60s-70s, Harvey St.Jean. His life story reads like a piece from Rat Pack times. See accompanying blip from 1975 New Yorker magazine - you can pull it up online and read in its entirety. Actual registration papers from 1969 are present. It was signed by another well known figure in Miami Beach in the 60s and 70s - police chief Rocky Pomerance. Harvey St. Jean was eventully gunned down in a parking lot on the Ocean Drive in Miami Beach in 1974 in broad daylight when sitting in his Cadillac, despite having carried this little Smith for protection. His murder remained unsolved. Various theories circulated including a mob hit for the money that he allegedly owed them.
Enjoy!

I only read your post - not the article to which you refer. Your description, however, sounds as if he was armed when attacked, but in Condition White. Owning a gun is clearly not enough.

Definitely not in the holster, but in a suede lined jacket breast pocket…

Probably sat in his office desk drawer. Very neat story and cool piece of history.

He must have had some influence to get the police chief (or anyone) to sign off on his permit on Christmas Day. :)
