Does anyone know how I can determine when my Chief Special .38 cal Model 36 was made? I have the serial number if that is needed to ID it.

First, welcome! Yes, if you will post your serial number off the butt of the M36 using "X's" for the last three numbers, someone on here, or I will look it up for you. Of course, you should post pics! We love to see pics on here. Again, welcome.

Serial number is ADM21xx.

according to my Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson,
serial # ADE6700 started the series used in October 1983.
By December 1983 they started using ADT2999, I would expect the ADM series to be between those dates.

Late 1954 probably. FYI they were not officially Model 36 until about three years later. Before then it was just the Chiefs Special.
