Model 37 flat latch date of manufacture

Guys I’m looking at buying a model 37 flat latch with diamond grips. Serial number is 15644x
Can anyone tell me the approximate date of manufacture? Thank you

Based on others in the database I'd guess 1960 or 1961. Some in
that era did not have MOD-37 stamped on the frame. Rather odd,
but true.

Without a factory letter it's impossible to guess.

I sort of agree with you - but I would say that "without a factory letter it is impossible to KNOW" - because you have already offered a good, well-informed "educated guess" - which is about as good as one can get without pony-ing up the $100 for a factory letter.

An educated guess is good because that’s what I was asking for. Wouldn’t make sense to pony up the $100 for a factory letter on a gun I don’t own yet.
