I would appreciate a little help with this one. I have a 1984 Model 37 with a lock-up issue. The cylinder lockups fine in single action or when pulling the trigger slowly in DA. If I pull the trigger fast, the cylinder will not lock-up. It seems to roll right past the cylinder stop. This gun has been shot around a dozen times in its life. Any ideas? By the way, the gun has been dissasembled, cleaned , and lubricated. Thanks

Sounds like the cylinder stop is binding or a weak cylinder stop spring. Pull the sideplate back off & hose the #**%! out of them & if it's just some grit maybe that'll blow it out of there.

Could be the cylinder stop is binding in the frame cut and not popping up fully. Could also be that someone (a previous owner) in an effort to try and avoid a cylinder line, polished up and rounded off the CS too much. Another possibility is that if someone removed the CS the small spring might either be bent or not placed in the CS hole properly. These 3 things come to mind, but hard to really diagnose 3000 miles away.

I think these are sage comments. I just happened to have my model 60 fully disassembled for some work. So this is fresh in my mind. Putting the cylinder stop back in requires a little finesse, and even though I've done so many times, I always take special care that because that spring is so small, and the fitment awkward. Even if the CS is in perfect shape, even the slightest obstruction down where it pivots, or contacts the front of the trigger, could easily affect the lockup when trying to shoot in DA.
