Model 4006 question

I recently acquired a good condition 4006 3rd generation pistol. Just wanted to know if this is a California Highway Patrol duty sidearm. I could only find small bits of info. Most is about the .40 tactical pistol used later on. My serial number is TFL05xx. Thanks!!

Sure does look like one to me . I have one also and the markings are just like mine . Seems like they put their CHP s/n everywhere . Enjoy it , I sure do mine . I had BMCM put an LPA rear adjustable and an f/o front sight on mine , a whole lot easier on these 67 y/o eyes .

The Axxxx is a match marking of barrel, slide, and frame so that Armorer can have multiple pistols apart at same time and get parts reassembled to correct gun. It is not uncommon on LE orders, though the format of the match marking may vary from the exact S/N from left side of frame to a unique number probably associated with Inventory Control such as NPDxxxx (Newark Police Dept) or the Axxxx you have.
In my understanding, the Axxxx is an early CHP pistol as are the later procurements Bxxxx, Cxxxx, Dxxxx, and finally the Exxxx where the xxxx matches the CHPxxxx pistol s/n on left side of frame.

Dug up a picture of mine . Also was offered a 4013TSW which is a CHP also , you can see the marks are alike . I seem to remember reading here there was like 500 of these .

I have an absolute mint Sunnyvale DPS 4003 TSW. I was blown away at how clean and solid it was. I suspect it is unissued as there is absolutely no holster wear on it at all.
