I had a heck of a time today trying to get my Model 41 to shoot Remington Subsonic HP. I had up to two misfires for every magazine. The firing pin was leaving a strong dent on the edge of the cartridges that were misfiring. I even tried firing these misfired cartridges a second time, and only one of them fired. The rest were duds. Is this something that other people have encountered?

I have had Failures to Fire with various brands and types, I take along a M17 and try the FTF in that, sometimes it takes 6-8 hits rotating the round slightly each time. I have a small box of never fired rounds.
Very few failures with CCI, probably not i in 10,000 in Peters SV.
Alas the Peters days are gone,,,,

The CCI Sub Bullets are a different shape than the CCI std vel. Bullet. My 41 with the S&W upper won't shoot the Subs. It will only shoot CCI std vel & Blazers (with the frame buffer installed & yeah I don't want to hear about it).
With a Bully Barrel I can shoot all kinds of stuff. I usually shoot the Aguila SSS 60gr because its so fun with a suppressor (those things whack stuff) and the fast twist on the Bully will stabilize those long bullets. 41 sure are a fun pistol to shoot!

There have been other threads in recent times on the model 41 and Remington ammo. Most members have indicated that they have similar experiences with mis-fires. I have had good luck with Federal Auto Match in all my auto pistols, including my Rugers and a High Standard Victor. It seem Federal did it right with this ammo which they claim is designed for auto pistols and Wal-Mart has it again in stock for a bargain price in my view. They come bulk but shoot better than most other products. Try a box and see if you have any luck with them. I don't buy any Remington 22 lr ammo anymore, sticking with Federal, Winchester and CCI. JMO.

I shoot CCi standard velocity only, with zero problems. I bought mine
new about 2 years ago. I had stove pipes for about 300 rds in the break
in period.

After each range session i got into the chamber with Hoppe's #9 and
a chamber brush.

Since then and many rounds later it is CCi SV only. Good luck.

I have 3 41's and they will shoot fine with CCI Std vel and CCI Subsonic HP's no problems with either loading. Two are pre A series one is a low A series.

Back when ammo was in very short supply, I managed to be in Walmart when they were unloading an ammo shipment. Only the 525 bulk pack of Remington in 22's. They averaged one failure to fire per mag in my 41. I would eject it and reinsert 180 degrees from it's original position. Slightly over 50% would fire this way. It will be the last Rem 22's that I spend my money on.

Regardless of make/model of gun Remington 22 ammo is tops in the misfire dept it seems to me
My 22a has great accuracy with most Rem loads though

I too have had problems with the bulk value pack of Remington Golden Bullet hollow points. I usually get at least one hangfire per 50 rounds fired. The only reason I still shoot them is they are wonderfully accurate in my 1st Series Colt Woodsman and I stocked up when they were cheap.

I've had bad luck with Remington .22 ammo as well. I haven't used any of it in many years now. The company has refused to do anything about the significant misfire problem that has existed for decades.
