The thread linked to below describes a situation that I had with my Model 41, and I think my brother still has with his 41. The extractor spring and plunger were "stuck" down at the bottom of the hole that they live in.

Model 41 - Seized Extractor Plunger? Help!

Nothing I tried seemed to get them to come out, until I held the slide vertically, plunger spring hole pointing down, and tapped the slide on a block of aluminum. After several taps, the stuck parts came flying out.

The reason I'm posting this thread now, is that it was suggested in the linked thread that a small drill bit could be used to clean out the spring/plunger hole, and also reduce friction. Any suggestions on what size drill bit to use? It would need to be rather long too.....

Do you have a good drill bit set. I would look at the size of the hole and go from there as to what will fit inside of it.

I used a toothpick wrapped with some 1000 grit paper, insert and twist.
Worked a treat to remove the (factory) burrs that were in my spring hole !
