Model 41 is this normal

I took this from another web forum, and am thrying to find an answer. This isn't my pistol, however I too have similar indentations. Albeit, not as severe.
The slide face has inserts that protrude slightly above the surface causing this.
Is this a normal occurrence?

I couldn't find an appropriate place for this thread, please move if necessary.

Yes its normal. Mine looks the same and has been running fine for over 30 years.

Model 41 question

Looks like a normal, but well-used, Model 41 breechface to me.

My 41 may be the odd one but, my breechface is smooth. It is a very old model with a LOT of usage.

However...if it works well, why worry.

Definitely not uncommon but it's because the bolt isn't properly fit in the slide.
