Was looking at an older model 41at a local gunstore and just as a matter of course applied the safety and pulled the trigger, safety did not hold, hammer dropped. Let then store know. Question-- is it a big deal to fix a safety that doesen't work on a 41?

Matsu said it very well. The gun was designed for bullseye shooters and I think after the gun was ready for production somebody said, "Gosh, we forgot to add a safety." The solution was the almost unusable stiff operating little thing hidden under the rear of the slide. I've owned a 41 and a 46 and honestly don't think I ever engaged the safety on either one.
