ATF's curio & relics list refers to a S&W model 42 airweight with AL alloy frame AND CYLINDER. I've not seen nor heard of an aluminum cylinder. Is there such a revolver?

A30:
The SCSW says there were only 37 made and that they may be found in the early 41xx serial range.

Tom Campbell owned one last I knew, used to carry it in a shirt pocket with wadcutters.

Speaking of Tommy Campbell, it would be curious to know just (aprox) how many rounds he fired in the custom .45 S&W built out of two Mod 52's. Back in the mid 80's when he came several times to the Masters Int Shooting Championship, (which he helped design), that pistol was the smoothest operating I ever saw, and he consumed copious quantities of ammo. He always had the spare magazines right side up in his mag pouch's. Fastest speed load ever. He used to say his occupation was a creater of once fired brass.
