Wife got her hair done in town today so I had 2 hours to find something to do. Went to a couple of pawn shops and gun shops that I might visit a couple of times a year. One pawn shop had expanded their firearm offering significantly since my last visit. Saw this Model 49 no dash Serial #905Jxx in with used Davis, Jennings, and the other usual low end stuff you see pawn shops. Was the only revolver in the shop among 44 other pistols. Looks to have been shot very little and has very very little blue wear and virtually no turn line. Story was that an older couple was cleaning out stuff to move into a nursing home and that they had purchased it new and put it in a dresser drawer until they sold it to the pawn shop last week. Looks like an honest 97% or better piece to me. Could not let it sit there with the junk in the show case and made a deal and brought it home. Did not have to clean it up at all.

Very nice find! I like the 49's a lot as they're great little carry guns. You did well. :D

Nice. I could be wrong but I think it has the high horn grips that are pretty hard to find.

Great find I love mine.I ran across a 686 that way and a model 57 both 4 inchers. some one bought them new and just put them up on a shelf and when the husband died the wife sold it.

Congrats! I found my mint 640 similarly: on the 'junk' table of a dealer at a show. Absolutely no way I could pass it up. Even got a few bucks knocked off the price because it was on that table.

Nice find! I've been a long time fan of the 49. I think Don Adams used one on "Get Smart" a lot. It might have been one of the guns he kept after the show ended.
