I have my hands on a Model 52-1 :) I think it has been 'bast***ised' as the frame is 'in the white' and the slide is blue. Also the front sight has been modified and fitted with a fibre 'rod'.
Spares are difficult to find, Numrich have some parts, and magazines seem as rare as hens teeth. A bit of soul searching on if I should keep the gun and all I speak with say I should keep it as it was probably one of the best .38 pistols made by Smith.
My reason for the thread is three fold:
Has anyone a manual in .pdf that they could send me :-) ?
Has anyone knowledge of where I could source spare parts ?
Has anyone knowledge of where I could source magazines ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I called S&W and they photo copied the manual for me and sent it no charge. Magazines are on Gun Broker occasionally. I found an extra extractor from Numerich, but I believe they are out at this time. Like to see a picture of this one when you can.

IIRC, the 52-0s were made on model 39 frames. if I'm wrong someone will surely straighten me out. The 52-1s had all steel frames. Someone with more knowledge than I please chime in?

Rude,
"In the white" is interesting. There was once an aftermarket outfit selling stainless steel frames to take M39 parts. I don't see why you could not put an M52 together on one.
Can you show pictures?
If not, is the trigger guard the standard round shape or is it squared and hooked?

SB,
The 52-0 had the 39's DA/SA trigger with the DA locked out. Said to be the devil to readjust if you messed with it.
Frames were steel.
