Just got in from a day at the range with a new (to me) model 53, 4”.
SN# places it around 1962. Very clean, barely a turn line on the cylinders (came with a matching #22 LR cylinder) and inserts.
45 grain privi ammo is running 1523 fps with a 49 SD. Recoil is lighter than a .38 wadcutter load with the bark of a .357, 110 grain load. Shot a 10 shot group of 1.75” @ 25 yards (old eyes are making iron sights tougher by the day)
Scrubbed the chambers with Robson lighter fluid on a wool mop, cases ejected smoothly with no set back issues.
Will be my varment carry gun moving forward.
