I have a Model 60-9 with a serial number CBP 8xxx. I also just got a copy of Jim Supica's book Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 2nd Edition (used).
Looking at the serial number information he provides on page 296, I see prefixes as follows:
Aug. 1997 CBN
Oct. 1997 CCD
What does one do, read between the lines and assume a production date of approximately September, 1997?
Supica's book is copyright 2001, is there better ( or later) information available? Thanks. JTL
