What can you tell me about a Model 622? Good shooters, known problems. May take a look at one with the vent rib barrel that was only made for one year. Value estimate in excellent condition, black grips,no box.
Thanks

622

The regular 622s in my area sell $350 -$450 without box/papers, A VR one will be a lot higher. This line of Smiths can be surprising on what they will sell for ,high one minute low the next. The VRs are few and far between, don't get many chances at them.
A good price is how bad you want it, if you are happy it's a good price.

Only thing I've heard was watch dry fire and firing pins, never had a problem. with any of mine.

I have owned several of this series of pistols. The blue/black finish on the 422/2214 pistols is somewhat fragile. I have no idea why S&W discontinued this fine series of handguns.

Thanks Showme, any other 622 owners out there?

I've got a 622 VR that I bought new the year after they were made, never had any problems with it. I discovered last year they were rare (with the ventilated rib) and now I'm glad I never traded it.

It shoots anything I feed it. Only have one mag though, will buy more once the craziness dies down.

Tinsley, is your VR 4.5" or 6" and does it have fixed or adjustable sights?

Cruiser, they are really nice guns that are probably appreciated more now than when they were in production. As far as VR vs non vented; I don't think there is any performance advantage to the VR. The vents are non-functional. What do they want for this VR?
