Hey Everyone, I got a revolver from my dad who bought it from his neighbor. The revolver is a model 625-6. I was hoping to find out some information abut this gun. The serial number is CDD70**, I was wondering what year it was made and value. I did not get the box or paper work. Thanks for any and all information...Ray

CDDxxxx dates to January 1999. We would need to know the condition and barrel length to give you a value.

How long is the barrel? Is it a .45ACP or .45 Long Colt version? What kind of grips does it have?

For value....I practically stole a 5" model with factory box/papers and some moon clips at the local show last weekend, so I wouldn't want to set the bar you...

The revolver is chambered in 45acp, and it has I beleive a 5 inch barrel. It also came with rubber grips, but the grips have the S&W emblem on them. The gun was bought new, and I don't think it was shot very much, the gun is in excellent condition. Thanks for all the help.....Ray

These 5" models (by far the most common - I have 2 of 'em) typically sell for 500 to 700 bucks on Gunbroker, depending on condition, documentation and accessories, sometimes less. You can, of course, ask whatever you want, but for a good idea of what they SELL for, watch them on GB. HTH, H.

Great revolvers indeed . . . and lots of folks looking for them usually, at least around here.

Gentlemen, I appreciate all the information on my revolver. I am not looking to sell the gun, just wanting to know what I have and the value. I put alot of value on this gun, because of my Dad giving it to me. My dad ended up with the gun when it was about to be lost to a pawn shop. My dad's neighbor had fallen on hard times, and had pawned the gun. Dad was told if he would pay the pawn ticket, he could have the gun. When dad went to the pawn shop, he couldn't beleive the price on the ticket. The gun was pawned for $125.00 My dad being the type of man he is, told his neighbor, that he would give him time to come up with the money, and he could buy the gun back. After a few months, the neighbor lost his house and was never heard from since. I have had the gun now for a few years and consider myself lucky to have it. Besides the 625-6 I also have a model 28-2, a model 617, I also have two model 66's and last but not least, a model 29. The model 28-2, the Highway Patrol man, my dad bought this gun for me when I graduated high school, back in the 70's. Ray

Sounds like you are getting the bases all covered. Looks like you still need an Airweight 38 though.

Enjoy the 625, I shoot mine quite a bit.

Bob

Hey Bob, I was looking at an Airweight at the last gun show I went to. I have been thinking of buying one of these for my wife. But at the show, I ran across a guy selling a Ruger GP100. This Ruger is stainless and has a 3 inch barrel, it is a 357/38. The guy had the gun, box and all the papers with the gun. I was told the gun had been shot 12 times. Long story short, I bought the Ruger for $350.00 Around where I live new, they run $549.00 so I think I did OK. With the Smith's and Ruger's I have, I have more than 10 revolvers. Lately I have been selling some of my hunting rifles and buying revolvers. This is my dad's fault, I have loved revolver's since he bought me the model 28! lol......Ray

I am in about the same shape.

7.5" 480 Super Redhawk (Open sight plinker)
9.5" 480 Super Redhawk (30mm Ultra Dot Deer Hunter)

I have been thinking about selling a Long Range Tactical rifle I am not shooting in 264 Magnum to fund a couple more revolvers. Like a Blued WC GP100 3" when they get available.

Bob

Hey Bob, I had a Super Redhawk with a 9.5 inch barrel in 44 magnum. I sold it off to fund another gun years ago, it's one I have regreted selling. I have seen alot of folks at the local gun shows selling off their guns, for cheap. I know it's the economy behind this. Like you, I have a Ruger KM77VT in 25-06 that I am thinking of selling to fund my next purchase. I have been looking at a couple of the Performance Center revolvers. I have not made up my mind what caliber I want this time, decissions decissions! Ray

I would think the value would be $700+ even without the box etc. If I remember right, the 625-6 45 ACP was the last revision without the lock.

BAMA45ACP, my 625-6 does not have the internal lock. The only S&W that I own that does have a internal lock is my 617...Ray
