I own no "N" frame revolvers. Having written that, Bianchi CD-127 break-open cross-draw holsters, designed by Red Nichols, are exceptionally flexible regarding handgun fit -- that is, one holster will fit and function correctly with a variety of revolvers and semiautomatic pistols. While it fits 2.125-inch "River" belts, CD-1xx holsters hug belts so effectively that I also use them with standard wear belts. Unless Mr. Nichols overrules me, CD-127 is the holster you want.

Of course there's a kicker. This excellent series of holsters has been discontinued for about a generation. But fear not. They don't wear out. They are available at reasonable cost and usually in exellent condition. You may find one New Old Stock.

I may be able to furnish a loaner.

Hope this helps.

I may have something for you-

I have a small box of holsters & I was going to list them here soon. I know I have some 3" stuff (N Frame)...and also some 4" stuff (which is what the mt guns are). If you want to pm me, I'll see what I have that may work for you!

Check out Cebeci arms. Just bought one for my 686. Very pleasantly surprised. Very good leather, double stitch and even a little fancy tooling.
Should be the same quality for an N frame. Mine was $50.00. Full retail is $70.00.

My 3" 625-3 and my 3" 657 both fit perfectly in the Milt Sparks "PMK" that is shown with the 657. Great holster for a 3" N-Frame.

I like the Mernickle holsters.
They have several styles for 3" N Frames, strong side or cross-draw.

I just got another of their cross-draws for my 396 and am pleased with it.
They have a unique design which has a flat back piece making them very comfortable
but they stick out a little bit more than a true pancake.
They will make a holster for darn near any gun ever made with the features you want/need.
No affiliation, just a happy customer.

There are many good brands.
The above posts mention some of them.
Here's a couple pictures.
That's a Galco 1.75" belt.
Their holsters are very good too.
I am looking at a shoulder rig from them right now.

I wasn't going to mention this because they are rare and out print for 35 years but my absolute favorite 3" N Frame holster
is the legendary "BLW" that came with the 3" 624 around 1985.
These DO show up occasionally here in the forum.
If you see one of these, buy it.
