I've been considering buying one of these for both a car carry and CC weapon. Reading reviews online, I find a lot of very conflicting information and opinions about them.

The one I am looking at is a 1 7/8", 38 +P, with IL (which bothers me not at all) and is in almost new condition.

So, I thought I'd ask the experts. Those of you who own one of have experience with one please let me know what you think of this model revolver.

Thanks,
Bob

I've carried one every day for the past several years. For the intended purpose, it works great. I shoot a few cylinders each time I'm at the range to stay profcient.

Agree with Mr.Mom,works good, light to carry.the finish doesn't hold up well but I dont care. this is not a fine revolver like older smiths but a tool and it does its job. It's a bit of a hand smacker so "carry alot, shoot a little"

I've been carrying my 637 PC with Crimson Trace 405's, loaded with 135 grain +p gold dots as my primary ccw for over a year and a half now.
I prefer the 637 over the 642 because of the exposed hammer. I like having the option of shooting it single action.
I have around 2000 rounds through it with no problems and it's extremely accurate for what it is.
I love my 637.

MY EDC is also a 637. Wouldn't have any other J-Frame for that purpose. While it is the least expensive Smith in my collection, it is the one that get used the most. For the monies, the Smith J-Frames are hard to beat. What makes them a great EDC, also can make them a pain to shoot with +p ammo. Don't feel you NEED +p ammo for practice or EDC. Use what you are comfortable with and accurate with. Many practice with standard .38s and then load with +p for EDC.
