I read another thread about the model 64, and there was talk of opening up the face of the cylinder to accept moon clips. If this is done, can 9mm and .38 super be used interchangeably? Is this the same conversion offered by TK and others?

(It's the 64-8 +p rated).

Thanks!

the chambers would have to be reamed to accept .38 Super and/or 9mm, since .38 Special has a different case diameter than either semi-auto cartridge.

Cutting the cyinder face for moonclips only allows you to use moonclips with your .38spl ammo. The chambers would have to be rebored in order to shoot 9mm and .38 Super, if you do that you can no longer shoot .38's safely as you run the risk of splitting cases when they fireform to the larger chambers.

Wouldn't accuracy also be affected since the .38SPL has a .357 bore and the 9MM has a .356 bore?

I have a rechambered 360J and I haven't seen any appreciable change in accuracy compared to when I shot .38's out if it.

Then maybe the smart move would be to just aquire a new cylinder and crane assembly and have it converted... That way I could use both.

You shouldn't need a new crane, just the cylinder assy.
