Model 66 Manf Date?

My cousin recently assed away and his wife gave me his Model 66-2 Snub nose. She said h bought it many years ago? And was unsure if he bought it new?I always told him I loved it and he made sure I got it. He passed away, way to early at the age of 51 from cancer.

Serial number: ANF86XX.

I'd like to know when it was made?

66-2 ran from 1982 - 1986. Someone will come along and give you an exact date

January of 1987, give or take.

I've seen -2's with ship dates as late as January of 1988.

Sorry to hear your cousin passed away way to early. Nice he had it go to you. I had one once when I was a young policeman but got carried away when all the semi-autos started being the craze and traded it for a model 5906.

I do still have the 5906 and my original 4" model 66-2. The model 66-2 4" serial number is AAU80XX. I believe I bought sometime in 1982 or 1983. It has a lot of miles on it because I went back to it after I realized, although I could shoot a perfect score during qualifications with the 5906, I was much more comfortable with my Model 66-2 4" having trained with it for many years.

It is my bedside revolver, and will be passed down as well.
