I just received my Model 2001-vintage 686-6 Plus from the Factory today. WOW! They hit a Home Run. As I've said previously, the Factory will under-promise and often times over-deliver. In this case, they exceeded my expectations.
I sent in my lightly-customized 686-6 for some slow timing issues about 6 weeks ago. During the time it was in the queue to be repair, I made a call to the lovely Roz Sousa to ask her about having the cylinder cut for Full Moon clips.
She said she would ask. A day or so later, she said that the PC folks would fit a new cylinder assembly that was already cut for Full Moons with a heavy Cylinder Chamfer package.
The price for everything (including shipping) was $209. TK Customs does a great job also, but wouldn't do the timing issues in their reasonable $180-ish price. Tom will get my business anyway when I have the original cylinder re-chambered and Full Moon cut for 9mm.
I think they did a tremendous job in matching my FLITZ'd finish with the cylinder. They didn't touch the any of the interior parts that I polished, like the rebound slide and other small parts like the Cylinder and Slide extended firing pin.
I added the Square Butt K/L Frame Herrett Troopers, which replaced the slightly larger K/L Frame Round Butt Troopers I had on there previously. On closed backstrap grips, the Square or Round Butt is of little consequence. I think these fit a bit closer to the frame than the Round Butt Troopers.
As you can see, the trigger was thinned, radiused and polished by the artisans at Mag-Na-Port. The hammer was treated to a coat of NP3 Plus by the folks at ROBAR. Dawson Precision was the source of the Trijicon front sight that I had installed locally.
She shoots as good as she looks. Like anything that comes home from service, she was treated to a detailed cleaning and polish to remove any detritus from factory proof firing. She will need to be re-sighted, as I'm not sure if her sights were adjusted.
A special thanks to Roz Sousa and her Team of professionals at the Performance Center. The S&W Customer Service and technicians are truly Top Flight!
