Model 686 Midnight Black

I know the Midnight Black 686 was produced late 80's as a dash 3 and I think only around 1500 produced. Anyone able to add any info and a guess to the value in today's market?

The only thing I have heard about them is that the finish is rather easily worn.

Most guys are going to tell you that the finish is extremely fragile, which it is, and that most people shy away from them because of that but remember they're stainless steel underneath so unless it's a perfect collector shoot it all you want! I have one and its new in the box that doesn't have hardly a mark on it, I think it would be between $1250 and $1500 I know that's a big spread but The market is a little soft right now.

I have a 6" i bought in 89 and a more recently acquired 4". I don't use them much but haven't had any finish wear. They never see the inside of a holster

I may be wrong, which somebody on here will tell me, but I believe that is the only Model 686 with a case-hardened trigger and hammer, Which I think by itself makes it unique.
