Most guys are going to tell you that the finish is extremely fragile, which it is, and that most people shy away from them because of that but remember they're stainless steel underneath so unless it's a perfect collector shoot it all you want! I have one and its new in the box that doesn't have hardly a mark on it, I think it would be between $1250 and $1500 I know that's a big spread but The market is a little soft right now.

I have a 6" i bought in 89 and a more recently acquired 4". I don't use them much but haven't had any finish wear. They never see the inside of a holster

I may be wrong, which somebody on here will tell me, but I believe that is the only Model 686 with a case-hardened trigger and hammer, Which I think by itself makes it unique.
