Made a trade today at my friends gun shop in Kelso, WA. Picked up a 2 1/2" no dash, "M" marked, Model 686 and a Colt Trooper Mk III (have a new Mossberg 590A1 coming too). The M686 has been carried a fair amount and shot a little. Lock up is tight, no end shake issues and carry up is spot on. It's wearing "goodyears" but that will change when I get to the other house. I'm at my house in Vancouver and don't have my SCSW with me. Serial number is ANA57XX. Can anyone help with a ship date? I'll dig out the camera and a post a couple of pics tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it. Now my six-inch M686 has a little brother:) Thanks for the help.

As promised, here are a couple of pics.

I am currently in Hanoi and also don't have my copy, but I'd say circa 1985.

Looking forward to your pics. I'd love to have a 686 2.5". Nice score!

...2 1/2" no dash, "M" marked, Model 686 .... Serial number is ANA57XX. .....

March 1986.

The S&W distributor Lew Horton had 6,000 on these 2.5-inch M686's made. The product code was 104212. If you call LH, they'll send you a nice free letter with all the pertinent details.

Do that, then post a pic of your letter.

Just shot mine today...Great revolver. The range master and I were shooting at 50 yards and again he beat me. He hit 12 out of 12 and I was 9 out of 12. It was his birthday so I let him win....Not really he kicks my butt every time.

Keep shooting and smile...I do : )
