The full restoration begins with a new Roadster Shop RS4 frame, fitted with brand new Ford and Dana differentials paired with coilover-based suspension. At the Carlisle corvette show years ago, a company was exhibiting restomods. First time I ever saw them.
I thought it might be worth looking into a solid axle vette upgraded to an LS engine, disc brakes, air, suspension, and all the creature comforts at that time.
Walked up to the display, had a few words with the vendor, and asked the price. Close to $200G's.

The Singer Porsches have opened the door to these high dollar resto-mod shops. They're beautifully done, but you will definitely need deep pockets to afford one. Most of these shops are booked years out, so someone is buying them.

For the F250 in the OP, I'd rather have the new 7.3 gas big block than the 5.0 Coyote in a 3/4 ton... I'm sure they'd be happy to do it for an upcharge...

That is half what I paid for my house in 1999. Just crazy how much money one can dump into a truck. My prior boss paid 92K for an F-250 diesel late last year.

Since the frame has been replaced, am I correct in assuming this truck could not be registered as a 1970?

I remember in the 60-70s most pickup trucks were cheaper than their counterpart cars. Not a lot in creature comforts..but a truck was for working. Manual shift,rubber floors,crank windows and bench seats. Then in the 90s trucks became the vehicle to own.4 doors even. Soon they outsold their car counterparts and were as luxurious, plus utilitarian.

Now we have boutique trucks that cost as much as a new GT3RS Porsche.

Times surely have changed.

There's an outift that basically does the same thing with new first-generation Mustangs. Essentially cosmetically a replica, but with more modern drivetrain and accoutrements. And steep prices.

Holy Cow Lotsa money. daughter totaled my 2002 7.3 Diesel F-250. Only had 165,000 on it. Sold the darn thing to my best friend's son back east. He has done a total frame off restoration. Everything gone over. Epoxied the frame gone over the complete running gear. Everything is fresh and new. He called the other evening. All fired up about the truck. Just started it for the first time. Bed goes on next week and he'll tag it the first of October. He wants to drive it to Wyoming to show us. He's a good kid and just a bit younger than 21. The replacement for the 250 is a 2007 250 chick truck. A gas engine Super Duty. A great 4x4 snow driver but terrible mileage and no power. It just turned 100,000 yesterday. Bought it in 2012 with 28,000 miles on it from a friend(yes I do have a few). Got the truck and 2 Armalite AR 10s both new for 9800 bucks. Wife claimed the truck...I got the 2 ARs
