so i couldnt stand the bulky look and feel of the extensions on the 14 rd mags. so i took off the extensions and modified a mag base for a compact mag to fit the 14 rd. i think it turned out great.

before and after pics and the final look

well its definately different. Does it handle worse?
I'd like to know where i can get that M&P gun mat though.

How did you remove that big hunk of plastic. I've found they're more of a hinderance than a help myself.

Newbee needs help with 4566 hi-cap mags

Just jointed the group, hope I am welcome with first request for help.

Just bought a duel set of 4566's and want to know who can tell me about "known" reliable hi-cap mags.

I was about to make the purchase for some Pro-Mags but thought I would ask first.

Thanks,

Avoid Pro Mag.

I'm not aware of any 4500 series magazines that are over 8 rounds. If you want a hi cap S&W .45, the M&P with the extended mags is the way to go.

Wow, I didn’t know the standard mag didn’t hold at least 12 or 13 like the XD does. The XD mags only stick out the bottom about an eighth of an inch. Is the grip area of the XD that much longer than the M&P??? What am I missing that you need the M&P 14 rd mag to stick out two inches to double stack only one more than the XD carries? I thought that was the M&Pc at first look…

And the only reliable mags in a S&W come from S&W in my experience. YMMV though as always. I smashed with a hammer a no name mag for my 3913.

Yes, the XD's are great but down here in bayou country, SS is the way to go for a fellow who just doesn't care for plastic. I guess my other choice it tobuy up a bunch of stock SS S&W 8-round mags. Know any place to find these, I am ok with used.

they are just slid over the mag but they are tight. i sprayed the mag body with wd40 to get it to slide then used a small nylon hammer and then a larger rubber mallet to hammer it off.
