I see an add on GunsAmerica for a .357 with moon clips. I've never heard of this. Is this a special cylinder?
Now that I have a 1917 I can really appreciate the ease of a moon clip reload.

Hi CJ - Yes the S&W model 627 uses moonclips from the factory. This is an 8 shot revolver. It is shown on the factory web site. Current price is around $1200.00

The old .45 ACP S&W revolvers used [half] moonclips. I don't remember the model but they were pre- and post-WWII issue.

I have several 5-, 6-, 7- & 8-shot S&W revolvers that use moonclips. Frankly, I find them a pain to use so I went back to speedloaders.

These people machine cylinders. That is the only pistol-smithing that they do. I've read reviews and they are supposed to be a first class operation. For $230.00 they will machine your cylinder, supply you with 10 stainless steel moon clips, and a loading and unloading tool. The turn around is supposed to be 7 days.

Welcome to TK Custom.com & Moonclips.com

This performance center 681 7 shot came from the factory chamfered for moonclips. Can shoot it either way. Most of the time I don't use mc but I've got a bunch and a couple belt carriers someplace.

I can't imagine not using moon clips. For speedy reloads though use round nose bullets... the ledge on the SWC style hangs up on the chamber edge.

I've got revolvers done by both Pinnicle and TK Custom. Both do quality work and each was had timely turn arounds. I agree with Evil Dog above, but with practice even SWC load fast. Keep Shootin'

I have a factory Performance Center 629 (.44 mag) that came with moon clips.

I have a 627 that I gladly purchased form a forums member. It is a dream to shoot, and gets smiles on the range when it still goes "BANG" after 6 "bangs." I feed it with 8 round moon clips. Sometimes you have to wiggle a bit to get everything lined up to get the mooned ammo to drop smoothly into the cylinder. It is a total gas!
