This concert was 29 years ago, Nassau Coliseum, NY, but someone just uploaded these clips a few months ago.

I've never had much use for the touchy-feely kind of relationship country. This is much more up my alley.

Johnny Cash's studio recording of Ghost Riders from around 1960 has always been my favorite version, but this is actually better.

Excellent all about. My favorite two country music performers Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.

The Highwayman with Nelson, Jennings, Kristofferson and Cash was excellent, and that is a great version, thanks for sharing. Makes me feel old remembering how long ago and back when I was still a young fella...

Billy Joe Shaver - the outlaw's outlaw. Arguably one of country's greatest songwriters. Favorite of Haggard, Cash and Dylan.

Two greats paying tribute to each other.

I liked Waylon Jennings lots more than I liked Willie Nelson at the time. I heard his Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, and it just blew me away, and I went right out and bought his Dreaming My Dreams album. I'm pretty sure I still have it on vinyl tucked away somewhere in this house. And of course, he was married to Jessi Colter...a match made in music heaven for sure.

The song and the idea behind it still resonate to this day.

Billy Joe Shaver wrote all but one song on Jennings' Honky Tonk Hero album.
