So.. I finally took one of my Mosins to the Range. It was embedded in a ATI Stock and has a ATI bolt handle.
The two holes on the top are used to screw in the picatinny rail.

I used Wolf 7.62x54r and military surplus. The Wolf ammo gave me headaches because the bolt got stuck multiple times and I was just able to open it with a hammer. Now on the other hand .. My Bulgarian ammo was a dream to shoot and performed flawless. It is a lot of fun to shoot that rifle but dang it gets hot and I burned my thumb :D

I was a little bit late that day so after shooting my rifle I had to leave and could not give my 9mm Shield a nice run :(

I really love this range which is run by my county. They have very professional people working there with a very high security standard and super friendly.

$8 for the whole day shooting rifle and pistole

I have a couple of Mosins plus a tin of the Bulgarian silver tip ammo
and a few boxes of Wolf non corrosive. I have yet to fire a single shot
through either of them. Some owners report excellent accuracy with
their Mosins, others don't. Bore condition is important for accuracy and
surprisingly many buyers pay little attention to the bore when choosing
a rifle. Bore condition varies from like new to rusted junk with these
guns and many have been counter-bored. I learned the hard way with
Mausers to never buy any milsurp that has been counter-bored. With
the supplies of the various Mausers finally drying up the Mosins are a
welcome bargain.

I have like 5 boxes of Wolf but I am not satisfied with their performance.
Initially I thought I still had cosmoline left but that was not the case as the bulgarian ammo cycled perfect.

We have at home a professional steamer, called Ladybug :D , was very easy to remove the cosmoline with that thing.

I have a second Mosin Nagant which I want to use for decoration purposes, now the question is how to get the wood refinished without destroying the stamps.

I bought one of those green tins recently. You had issues shooting that? I have shot mine with one of those brown wrapped ammo packs. No problem. Not alot of shots though.

I like shooting this gun better in the winter, with a heavy coat. Then you don't feel it at all.

Is the shellac peeling? You can strip the rest off with thinners then put on a thin coat of new. If it needs any more I would, just leave it alone. If it turns out it is a collectible year/variation you will just knock off value the more you mess with the wood.
