I check the water in the dog bowl and birdbath every couple of days and always have to flush out obviously healthy mosquito larvae.
Is there something I can put in the water that is safe for my dog and the wildlife that will discourage the lodging of pre natal mosquitos?

Mosquito torpedo, found it at Home Depot.I use it in my fish ponds,no affect on them and it claims to be safe for humans and animals.

I have a mid-size pond off the deck. I use Mosquito Bits.
They are natural barley. I don't worry about my chickens, ducks, geese, dogs or cows drinking or playing in the pond.

I always washed my hunting dogs water bucket out with Clorox. And in hot weather I'd put about a teaspoon in while filling the bucket(4 gal.). Never did have a skeeter problem and it didn't hurt the dogs one bit. If you drinking city slicker water you're probably injesting way more chlorine than that. 1 gal. would last all summer.

You might try adding a little raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar to the water. Make sure it’s raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. You don’t need much. I add a half-cup to every 40 gallons of water for my horses. It repels flies and mosquitoes off the water. It’s also good for their digestive tract, both horses and dogs.
