Mossberg 590 mods

Finally got around to customizing (actually simplifying), my HD shotgun. I never liked the heat shield so I took it off...got rid of the Speedfeed stock also...not only was it too long but I'm not a fan of the in the stock shell holder. So I picked up a Hogue 12" LOP stock with matching rubber foregrip and a 5 dollar butt saddle from Bass Pro. I then put a simple bungee sling on (same one we use on our 870s) and tucked the excess into the other side of the saddle. Wala...simple and efficient.

I was thinking of getting a Speedfeed stock for my Mossberg. Why didn't you like the shell holder?

NICE Sip. Mine is still bone stock. I found out recently that Magpul now makes stocks and accessories for the 590. Not sure if I want to drop that much money into it. Yours looks "clean". All I know is after the third shot of 00Buck, my shoulder will hurt for a week!

(The speedfeed stock never bothered me much. The Marines on my Carrier were issued the Parkerized 590's when I was in, and bought one when I got out.)

My favorite HD gun is a Mossberg 500 parkerized, with heat shield and no modifications necessary. It has the 20" barrel, holds 7+1 and goes bang every time I want it to. I cannot imagine a better HD gun.

I started out as a Browning fan in 12 gage shotguns, and I still have my Citori over and under, but for home defense it is Mossberg all the way.

Mossberg makes a no frills shotgun that is ideal for HD. It should definitely customized just the way you want it. Good job.

I don't think they are very easily manipulated under stress. I also don't like that they are on each side of the gun. But my main reason was that the stock was way too long for a home gun. This set up shoulders way quicker. If you are tall with long arms a 12 inch might be too short but you can get a 13 also. I think the speed feed is around 14 3/4.

I have a pistol grip Mossberg for HD and just a fun gun. I shoot 3" mag slugs and 00 buck all the time. My buddy has the same gun with a stock and I hate shooting slugs through it. Hurts the shoulder worse than mine hurts my hand.
