I got this Maverick and for $214 I can't complain.
7+1, 3", 20"" barrel.
It's as plain Jane as they come which is perfect for a HD gun.
Simple brass bead front sight. Dual extractors, dual action bars.
It does have a polymer trigger group, which is not desirable, but works ok.
For a closet/ truck gun, its hard to beat for the price.
I will hit the range and give a report as soon as I can.
I'm not sure that price is still good ( Buds) but similar prices are available out there.

I bought one at Buds in Sevierville on sale a couple of months ago and agree with every word you wrote. My range report consists of several rounds fired out in the back yard. It fed-shot-ejected perfectly every time. That and standing in the corner...which it also does admirably...are its only job. Heck of a deal.

I've had a Maverick for a few years. Functions perfectly and can't be beat for the money. They are made in the USA.

Well, yes and no. I understand some of the parts are made in Mexico and its assembled in Texas.
I think its the trigger group that's made down there, but not sure.

Mav88

I love mine , can't be beat for the money. I paid $215 with 28 inch barrel, got the 20 inch barrel for Christmas and have fired probably 1000 rounds without a single issue

My dad lives in FL and has one for HD and occasionally keeps on his boat when he's out fishing. No frills, does exactly what it's designed to do. Hard to beat for the $

I used to have one. It was a great shotgun, and I got it for 220 bucks brand new.

Boy did that gun kick like a mule with slugs. It's such a light weight shotgun. I believe I read (from a reputable source) that in calculating felt recoil of a lightweight 12 gauge like the Maverick 88, when firing magnum slugs, the recoil roughly equals the powerful elephant rifles chambered in the big game calibers. The bruises I got from two boxes of shells were testement to that.

Yes, I like all of my shotguns from Maverick Co., TX. For $180 they are hard to beat. I prefer the ergonomics over most other shotguns. Also you can adjust the trigger to make it shorter and crisper.

My new Daughter in Law's grandpa had one by the head of his bed for HD. Nice and compact. He gave it to her before he passed. This is the little lady I escorted down the isle after her grandpa passed. Her Dad passed 10-12 years ago.

My step son called and asked about ammo for HD and play. I bought them a 25 round box of #4 Buck and a box of 7.5 target loads.

I gave them lessons on loading, gun safety how to hold it etc.
The thing I've always like about the old Mossbergs I've owned is the top mounted safety. It is so easy to use.

P.S. I've owned many shotguns, BUT, one time my life needed saved and the Mossberg did the job.

Rattle, sloppy and loose and you can easily tell it is mass produced but the Mossberg's work very well.

Def a good pickup for you at a great price.
