I have an old Mossberg 12 gauge model 200ka that I don’ t think had been shoot in at least 50 years. I plan on shooting it this week, I also have a box of Winchester # 8 that is probably 59 years old as well. I don’t want to injure myself, the LGS said the firearm looks good and should be fine. I plan on running a bore snake through it and lubing it. Any other precautions I should take?

That is quite an old gun you have there, I like the look of it.

Bore-snakes are fair at best. At best they will remove powder (Nitro) fouling, but do nothing about the build up from the wads. They are fine for a quick wipe down on the inside. But for a real and effective cleaning you'll need a shotgun cleaning kit that uses Bronze bore brushes.

Thanks Ivan, good suggestion.
Anyone know anything about the 200ka? Just a quick google search I found they were made between 1956 and 1959, not a whole lot more than that. They don’t appear to be particularly valuable other than being in the family probably since new.
