Nope. Because it was never built with a shoulder stock it isn't a shotgun. As long as it is 26" in length it is just a firearm, and not subject to the NFA. You buy it just like any other common firearm.
Some states have their own restrictions, though.
I've had one on backorder through my LGS, who always comes through for me, for a couple weeks now. He says he's backordered at two different distributors . . .
20ga are kinda pricey right now, when you can find them. Think I will give it a cooling off period and then go shopping. The 12ga models are listed at around $300 and less so it is just a matter of time before the 20ga model drops into reasonable range...
Picked mine up today. $400 out the door . . .

I would love to know what anyone who owns a 20ga. shockwave thinks of the recoil, how it compares to 357 magnum K frame or other handguns. Really interested in one right now.
Kind of an apples to oranges comparison. Firing a pistol from a good two handed reactive shooting stance lets you absorb the recoil down your arms and through your shoulders. With any Shockwave, you've got one hand on the grip and one hand on the fore end secured by a sling loop. Your hands/arms absorb the recoil differently. The difference in weight between a Shockwave and your average pistol also comes into play. Firing standard shotgun loads through a lighter firearm without the benefit of shouldering is gonna take a toll. I use low recoil stuff in my Shockwaves, and they're very manageable . . .

i already had a maverick 88 12 gauge shotgun with a 20 inch security barrel...holds 8 rounds..put a top foldover ATI stock on it...when folded its not much longer than the shockwave and holds more....best of both worlds and cheaper too..can shoot the more powerful rounds with it...i had the shockwave grip on it before and its a handful for sure with any round over 1200 FPM...also have a 20 gauge like it....much easier to control the recoil than the 12 gauge

Any comments on the new .410 Shockwave as a house gun?
Read some earlier post concerning .410 as not being suitable for home defense
It sound just right to me
I've got the 12 gauge and the 20 gauge. My LGS on the hunt for the .410 for me as I type. Seems like a pretty good house/hallway gun to me, also a good truck shotgun. The only drawback is that it takes two hands to really make it work, which is why I'll probably keep my Governor in the nightstand safe . . .

10-4, I used to keep a Governor in my nightstand as well, sold it in a moment of weakness.
My LGS said probably would be a long wait for the .410 to stock, I was checking to see if anyone here saw one online for sale.
Haven't seen any yet
My guy is pretty good. I'll keep you posted . . .
