Well I finally joined the crowd and I'm on the hunt for a gun to fit a holster!
I was visiting my son down in NC and we went to a gun show. Low and behold I run across a guy from Long Island who has the usual box of holsters. I saw a nice Jay Pee in the holster bin! I comment "Looks like the old NYPD style". He gave me a funny look and said you can't be from around here as a few people looked at it but no one matched it to New York's finest. Yep Western New York! So it was marked $10 and in great shape with just the smallest of marks (probably from the bin)
It looked brand new for the most part.
So now this $10 holster has me looking for a model 10 4" skinny barrel or a 64 NY-1 to go in it.
Funny side story I put in a M&P pre 10 snub and for the life of me could not pull the gun back out. There is a leather lip inside that blocks the back of the cylinder. I had to Google the holster and find out how to get the darn gun out!
I have a range belt that has that holster and several speedloader pouches and it fits my 19-3 perfect but not deep enough to hit that leather ridge inside. So that's why I'm on the hunt for a fixed sight 10 or 64.
My range has a section of steel plates and silhouettes and I get a kick out of the being the only guy using a revolver rig and clanging off targets. I even danced a tree one day where the targets clang from one side to another. I hit six, reloaded fast for me and hit the last two then shot at the gong way back and hit that four times. Younger guy with a Glock rig said,"nice shooting and love that holster!"
