My wife had recorded the Harrison Ford movie Witness. This was about the Amish boy who witnessed a murder while traveling with his mother in Philadelphia. Even though I had seen the movie several times I never noticed the revolver used by Ford in the gunfight scene in the parking garage. It appeared to be a small revolver so I assumed it would probably be a Colt Detective Special or a S&W Chiefs Special. However in the scenes that take place in Rachel's kitchen I got a better look when the gun is in the drawer. It looked just like a 2" Model 10! At some point the gun gets turned over and I could have sworn that instead of the "four lines" there was only "one line". Could it have said "Made in USA"? Maybe this is all wishful thinking on my part since this is my favorite handgun (I have 3 of this model). Could someone else chime in here and set the record straight? I'll admit that my eyes are old and tired.

Saw a recent interview with her. Time has not been kind. I really didn't believe it was her. And she's married , to another woman.
When I pulled up a picture of her, I did not think it was the same person. Had to go back to photos from the movie.

So based on the images, it is NOT a Model 10. It is not even a Pre-10. It is long action .38 M&P with a single line address as the OP noted. That makes it manufactured before 1948.
Has post-1968 wood on it, though.
What's with the grip that Danny Glover and Josef Sommer are using on their respective revolvers? Middle finger under the trigger guard and the grip controlled with the ring and little fingers? And is Danny Glover's thumb really that long? He would have made a great stride piano player.

Kelly McGillis was the victim of something really horrible when she was younger. I can't say it here.
I was surprised Harrison Ford carried roundnosed lead cartridges for his Model 10 when I saw it years ago. That was probably normal but I guess I read too much Elmer Keith and thought he's have something else. Super Vel or something more "effective". See. I told you I read too much Elmer Keith back then.

I'm a Quaker. Correctly known as a member of the Religious Society of Friends. Quaker was originally a perjoritive term used in England to insult us.
The Society of Friends was founded by George Fox (in England) and based on his central beliefs in the fact that Jesus, our Savior, could speak to the condition of every man and woman, and that all were equal in His eyes. You will find many influences of the Friends in the Declaration of Independence (written in Philidelphia, the capital of a Friend's Colony, with the help of Benjamin Franklin, who was raised in the Society) as well as incorporated in the Constitution.
The Amish are also Christian, but are of German origins. I have high regard for what I understand of their faith. This faith was well demonstrated a few years ago when a group of their Elders displayed extreme forgivness and compasion for the family of the individual who murdered a number of Amish children at a school.

If I remember correctly, Annie Oakley was raised in a Quaker family also. She was reported to be a pretty fair shot.

The movie aside, I like that web site in the link. Imfdb or something like that. A data base for all the fire arms in movies that is gota be worth an hour of wasting my time. I always wondered if the gun carried by Arnold Schwartsneger (or whatever his name is) with Jim Bulishi where Arnold was a Russian detective, was a real gun I'll find out now.
