Hi all, this is my 1st post so go easy on me....

I am looking at the MP 4245 range bag Allen M&P Sporter Range Bag Black Soft MP4245 and didn't know if anyone here as one? I'm looking for a range bag that will hold 2 handguns, ear protection, and a few boxes of ammo. Do you think that this bag will be big enough to hold all of this?
Also, the description says 2 handgun rugs...does this mean that it has 2 removable zipper cases?

thanks in advance for my newbie questions,
Chris

I too have been looking a range bags. It will be interesting to see what people recommend. For me, I am going to go with one that does not advertise on it.

I just use a gym bag, maybe 20" long, 12"x10" across.

Its got a zipper and shoulder strap, couple side zipper pockets, looks like another random bag to anyone else.

Plenty of room for a pistol or two, eyes and ears, Maglula speed loader, 3 spare mags, my cleaning kit roll (Old kitchen towel, in which is rolled up: MF Towel, Plastic screwdriver, 4 oz Froglube CLP, Hoppe's Boresnake, patches, Outer's brass pistol rod, patch holder, and jag), a small SAK, a Petzl AAA headlight, and my small shooting notebook and a pencil.

I looked for a long time for a decent bag that had no advertising on it. I finally settled on a Condor Compact Assault bag. Yeah, the name sounds a little too tacti-cool, but it has been a great bag. For the range it will hold all the pistols you could want to take and ammo for each, along with eyes, full ears for two people, tape, etc. And with all this it has a fairly small footprint. It doubles nicely as a flight carry-on bag. It holds my 15" laptop and everything else I could possibly think of. It makes a great day bag too. As for the tacti-cool appearance, I got mine in black, and it isn't obtrusive at all.

If you search the name on Amazon, it should still come up.

This is my favorite range bag:

LA Police Gear Jumbo Bail Out Bag

For $30 it can't be beat. It's larger than the bag in the OP, but not too big. It has more pockets for organizing all those little things, but still has plenty of room for stuff inside. It has two pockets on either side for guns with velcro closures.

I'm a bag nut. As such, I'm a sucker for a new bag. I've had several range bags that cost more than this one. Even so, this is still the best I've seen.

Seems like a good deal. But at that price, I would have to wonder at the quality of the bag. I've spent nearly that much on one gun rug, let alone a range bag & two gun rugs! If they have a good return policy you might check it out.

I have a similar Allen M&P Range Bag shown here..Allen Company M&P Pro Series 13" Tactical Range Bag 1200D Endura Black MP4249 as well as a few other Allen products.

I can say that all of the Allen products I have are quality made IMO, and I'm kinda picky.

The MP4249 bag that I have appears to be a few inches shorter than the one your looking at but may have more compartments. My bag will accommodate 2 pistols, well over (5) 100 rd boxes of ammo, ear protection, glasses, mat, and other items very easy.

When I made the purchase from CTD, the handgun rug was not in the bag. I called CTD they gave me a number for Allen passing it off to them. I called Allen and left a VM, I was called back within the hour and they claimed that several were shipped without the rug in error due to a item back order. They sent me one shortly after as stated on the call, very good service.

I don't want to sound like the OEMs sales guy but I feel that they have a well made product and gave me great service so why not share the experience.

I would buy another tomorrow if I needed to. Hope this helps, Good luck!

I ordered my range bag from the S&W store, it is the larger bag and I think it cost around $65, 3 years ago. It holds all 3 of my M&P's and several boxes of ammo under the guns. Lots of extra pockets for all my other range goddies. It is all black with the S&W logo, and comes with a shoulder strap. I have no reason for another range bag with this setup.

I found a small range bag going through some stuff. It will hold 2 striker guns plus extras. So I will use that plus a separate bag for ammo. If I want to bring more than 2 striker fire guns, or if I wanted to bring some of the 1911s to the range, I do have a large range bag I bought years ago from a vendor at the Steel Challenge. I bought it for my camera gear and I had them customize it so it looked like a baby bag. I could always dump out the camera gear and use that if I wanted to bring more than 2 smaller sized guns.

Actually that is a good price($29.00)I saw the same bag on Amazon & they wanted $41.00. I would be interested in how it works out for you.
