what's a sporter?

It is actually a line of rifles produced by Colt, but not in this conversation.

Adding a Pis rail

I have a S&W M&P 15 Sport with 7" stock hand guards on it. Has anyone put the 5" Bolt on Picatinny Rail for Hand Guard and Magpul MOE Hand Guard by GRG MFG sold on Amazon on this model?

In the original post, "Sporter" was in reference to a Smith & Wesson rifle, which is a semi - auto AR style weapon. It has a collasible stock and a 16" barrel. It does not have a forward assist or a dust cover. From what I have seen the price is lower than a lot of other rifles.

The S&W M&P 15 Sport is an outstanding bargain IMO. I bought mine from Grabagun for $579 + $5.99 shipping to my FFL.

Very well made rifle.

It really is a trademarked term by Colt firearms, but many people use it in the same manner as you did... kinda like "M4" or "Kleenex".

It is a very good rifle and you got a great price. I am extremely pleased with mine.

M&P 15 Sport barrel and chamber are not chrome lined. Barrel and chamber are Melonite , a heat treat process which does not affect dimensions. It is very good resisting corrosion and hard use.
The bolt carrier and key are chrome lined.
Enjoy your rifle. I agree it is a very good one.
