Thinking along this line regarding the Bonnie & Clyde guns sold at auction, does anyone know what revolver was used in 1906 by Harry Thaw to kill Stanford White in the most famous society murder of the Gilded Age era? I have researched this some, and the only thing I have found mentioned was that it was a 5-shot revolver (By Thaw's own statement, White was shot 3 times at close range with a revolver by Thaw, with two unfired rounds remaining in the cylinder). Being that Thaw was a man of considerable wealth, I can't imagine it was a cheap IJ, H&R, etc, but rather a more fitting revolver, maybe a plated and engraved S&W lemon squeezer with pearl grips. Thaw's wife, Evelyn Nesbitt (and White's paramour), who was with Thaw at the time described the shooting some years later, and said Thaw "broke" his revolver after the shooting, which would suggest it might have been a breaktop. Testimony also indicated that Thaw had been carrying a revolver for a year before the shooting. Does anyone know what the revolver was and where it is now?
