Ever since acquiring a Ruger Single Six, I’ve kinda liked revolvers that can convert back and forth between 22 LR and 22 WMR. So as the opportunities presented themselves, I purchased spare cylinders and made all my 22 revolvers into convertibles.
I started with the Bearcat, picking up a spare cylinder and purchasing a Manson 22 WMR finishing reamer. That project went well, so with a reamer in hand, I sorta had to look for other projects! Eventually, I acquired a second Model 35 cylinder and found a Model 18 cylinder to fit the 17. After some minor fitting, I reamed them all.
My collection now includes: Ruger Single Six, Ruger Shopkeeper Bearcat, S&W Model 17-2, S&W Model 35-1. All are great shooters although the Bearcat”s sights sure challenge my eyes! It was as much fun making them as it is shooting them. Still got my reamer . . .
