Well, now that you have it, what will you do with it? You're not allowed to keep it at home so no defense use. I'm pretty sure you can't hunt with it. IDPA? Nope. You can't carry it out into the desert for plinking. So what exactly is the interest?

I'll be picking up a 4" 16-4 very soon now and am interested in who has done extensive testing on ammo choice to include the 32 Long match loads that are all the rage in Int. CF shooting. Any info would be appreciated.

Aussie Bob,

great looking gun! I have problems finding 32mags here, how much are they there, are they hard to find?

I have a 6" Model 16-4 and shoot it a LOT! I shoot reloads exclusively and since I cast my own bullets - moatly all cast bullets.

I load a cast 120 gr RF (10.0 grs of H110) in .32 H&R Mag cases for a full power load (1100 fps chronographed in my gun). This is a "not necessarily recommended" load that I have found to be quite safe in a Model 16-4 or a Ruger SP101.

For match use I use a Hornady 90 gr HBWC ahead of 1.9 grs of Bullseye in .32 S&W L cases or a cast 100 gr Keith bullet ahead of 2.8 grs of Win 231. This last is not for break open .32's but does a FINE job with my 16-4 for target and edible small game:

This was shot standing at 25 yards.

Needless to say, I treasure my 16-4, they are SUPERB revolvers.

Aussie-Bob, very nice handgun. Like the 4" barrel. Hope you enjoy. Do with it what you can. We know you don't write the laws, just follow them. That's all any of us can do. Well, that and vote.

. That's one of several that I will NOT be getting rid of.

Just keep your eyes open. You just might find one where you least expect to...

AUSSIEBOB,

That is a great find and will bring you many years of enjoyment. They are seldom seen because those who have them won't part with them.

I got lucky and bought one from a forum member a few months ago. Came with a spare cylinder for 32-20, wonder if either cylinder cn be reamed out for .327 Federal Magnum???? Anyone got suggestions???

Well, the .32-20 cylinder is out, as the chamber is too large.

Check with one of the custom pistolsmiths like Hamilton Bowen. I sent an e-mail to a smith in Houston TX, but haven't heard back from him.
