Nope - doesn't like to eat PMC Blazer ammo - lots of FTFs.

I decided to just shoot a few yesterday off the back of the deck since I was having such a hard time getting some range time (really long wait times) and it was the first time shooting.

First shot went went off fine. Pull trigger for second and nothing. Look at gun and breach is open and there is a round half ways in the barrel. Huh. WTH? OK. I figured out how to get it out, get things situated and fire again. Good. Not good. Uh oh. It goes on like this for 18 rounds.

This morning, I headed to a different range and while waiting about 15min for my lane, I talked to the RO and told him of my troubles. He said that he carried a 9c and that his didn't like PMC either. Always had FTFs with it. Suggested that I try some Federal, Independence, or American Eagle.

So, I guess after I shoot up the other 2 boxes of PMC, I will get a box each of those and give a try, see if it likes any of those...

Anyone else have this issue with PMC or other brands of ammo?

PMC or Blazer? Two different manufacturers. I've shot 115 grain PMC Bronze and Blazer Brass through all of my psitols, including the 9C. All of it has functioned flawlessly, although I didn't care for the inaccuracy of the Blazer. I like PMC Bronze and try to shoot it exclusively when possible.

Mine did that too, but with Tulammo. Obviously this stuff is kind of crappy but its the only ammo I had with me. It didnt feed only 2 times out of 100 rounds. I polished the feed ramp and cleaned the internals really good and that seems to have fixed it.

My .40 Shield eats PMC thought the 40 barrel and through the 9mm barrel. Keep it cleaned and it'll treat u right. I've never ran steel case through my EDC (and dont plan on it). So i couldnt say how it would act.

Last time I qualified for my concealed carry licence I shot PMC because I was required to shoot factory ammo. After years of shooting my reloads thru my 669 I had 2 failures to feed with the PMC. during the last ammo crisis my local gunshop bought what I had left back for what I paid for it.

Sorry, PMC Bronze.

OK...could it be something that I'm doing that would possibly cause the FTFs since some have said they don't have problems with the PMC stuff?

One of my friends has suggested that muzzle flip can lead to FTFs. I had posted my target results and she commented on the placement of the shots, stating that there were a lot of low to the left (maybe anticipation and pushing muzzle down) and some that were a bit high (this, too, can be due to anticipation, and that muzzle flipping can also lead to FTF's).

She offered some suggestions on how to test to see if I'm doing either and how to work on correcting that problem.

Anyways...just a thought......

"Limp wristing" could lead to ejection or loading issues. I had a little .25 ACP pistol that always jammed if you didnt hold it tight or let the muzzle flip too much. My #1 suggestion would be to clean it.

Well, I cleaned it before ever shooting it. I shot 18 rounds yesterday and had problems beginning with the 2nd shot, didn't clean afterwards. I cleaned it this afternoon. So, cleaning shouldn't be the issue, but since I'm a n00b, what do I know? :)

No ejecting issues, just the loading issues.

Key words might be "First Time Shooting". First time shooting the handgun ? Did you read the manual and clean the factory lube off everything inside and out on the weapon and then lube the area's the manual said to ? "Most" problems start when people don't read the manual FIRST.

OR are you the first shooter ?

I've never owned a weapon that was picky about ammo. All have gobbled it up like a hungry dog.

Yes, I've read the manual and Yes, I cleaned the gun prior to ever firing it, if you read my post above yours. :)

I am not a first time shooter, though, it has been quite a few years since I have shot a handgun.

And, I have shot a handgun, quite a few actually, in the last 1.5 months. I took a Basic Handgun class November at one of the LGSs, after Thanksgiving and shot 10 rounds from a 9c, a FNH-FNS 9mm, Springfield XDM 5.25 9mm, and a Ruger SP101 Revolver.

I also, in December, spent 4hr, starting with a .22 and going up to a .45 (.22, .380, 9mm, .40, .45) initially, then spent the majority of the 4hr shooting 2 different .45s - a Kimber and Auto-Ordnance, as well as shotguns and AR-74s. I had no issues what-so-ever with FTF or FTE.

So, one might think that if I were going to have those kind of problems, I might have them during those times, no? These were classes offered by my LGS and supervised.

Fwiw I had some issues with PMC Bronze the first time I shot my FS 9

Couple of FTFs and slide not locking back after last shot. This happened in the first 30 rounds. The last 20 were fine and the 100 WWB I shot afterwards had zero issues

I have one more box of Bronze to shoot. Will see if any issues

I'm having a similar issue with my FS9 using Win white box and 2 different relaods one with CBC brass and the other with federal. It happens every 6-7 rounds. I noticed the cartridges do not come all the way up behind the extractor. I loaded some dummy rounds and hand cycled until I got a FTF. I found if I go up through the magwell with a pencil and lightly push on the underside of the cartridge it goes in the rest of the way.(be very careful if you try this with a live round in the chamber) I'm thinking tolerence is a little on the tight side behind the extracor and the breech face seems rougher than on my other 2 M&Ps Going back to the factory soon.

I've got 200+ rounds of PMC through my 9c and over 500+ rounds on my FS 9 Pro. No problems here except once with a brand new magazine for my 9c and it failed to load properly the first time I used it.

PMC is known for inconsistent QC. The problem with cheap ammo is that it is cheap - meaning that corners are cut to keep the price down. I gave up on using cheap stuff and stick pretty much to Black Hills. Much less risk of bad loadings damaging a good gun, and almost no risk of ammo problems harming confidence in the gun.

After going through 2 boxes and having those issues, I decided to break it down and give it a really good cleaning. Could have been ammo, could have been me, could have been not cleaned as well the very first time...

I shot another 30 rounds at the concealed carry class yesterday and had no issues at all with FTF's. I worked perfectly. :) I have the rest of that box and one more to shoot, then I have some Indepence/CCI.
