My usual "field gun" - the revolver I carry into the woods is a Ruger Security Six revolver chambered in .357 Magnum in a replica US Army chest holster. I usually load the revolver with .38 Special 158 gr. LSWC ammo, and carry extra speed strips loaded with snake shot and 158 gr. JHP ammo in .357 Magnum.
Today, my son and I were visiting a new deer lease. The land owner advised that there were large rattlesnakes on the property. In an effort to be a bit discrete and not alarm any of the neighbors with the sounds of any gun fire from a .38 Special/.357 Magnum revolver, I decided to carry a .22lr revolver instead. I had the revolver - my Model 34-1, but had to search my holster bin to try to find a suitable holster for it. I found this S&W made holster in like new condition, and realized it was the closest holster I own that qualifies as a BBQ holster. It's almost too pretty to use in the field, but it carried the revolver safely and comfortably, and I'll take any style points I can get.
Regards,
Dave
